Overview

This workshop is intended for people at all levels who would like to develop skills to help them interact confidently with others at work: colleagues, customers and clients. The course examines ways of building rapport and respect with others using clear verbal and non-verbal communication skills. Assertive behaviour is examined in detail and there are many opportunities to practise the skills learned.

Level

This course is designed for people at all levels who wish to gain or improve assertiveness skills. The style is participative and case studies are used to illustrate points made.

Content

  • Understanding assertive behaviours and distinguishing them from non-assertive behaviours
  • Consideration of the current behaviours of individuals in difficult situations
  • Development of assertion strategies
  • Understand the effect of different verbal and non-verbal communication styles
  • Consideration of individual values and beliefs and their impact
  • Recognition of the rights and responsibilities of individuals

Outcomes

Delegates who complete this course will learn the skills involved in behaving assertively and the value of doing so. Their self-confidence will be boosted and the course will help them to overcome some of the barriers which hinder success.
