Overview

Writing is a key skill for public relations and this workshop is designed to further enhance the ability of practitioners who already have some relevant experience/expertise.  Accurate and effective business English is examined as a generic skill and is applied to press releases and feature articles, as well as other writing tasks.

Level

This workshop is designed for managers and in-house practitioners who wish to develop their public relations writing abilities.  The style is participative with practical exercises, as well as analysis of examples of good (and not so good) practice.

  • Effective business writing: proofreading and clarity
  • Press releases: headlines, quotations and hooks
  • Articles: format, signposting and linkages
  • Emails and letters: choosing the right words, and getting the style right
  • Punctuation and grammar refresher
  • Addressing specific writing issues

Outcomes

Delegates who complete this course will have enhanced their day-to-day writing abilities.  Their understanding of general principles will be applicable to a range of public relations writing tasks.
