Overview

This workshop is aimed at participants who have direct responsibility for managing the performance and conduct of their staff.  The course covers the methodology of dealing with these sensitive issues in an equitable, and legal, manner. Reference is made to performance management systems and techniques.  A template will be provided for dealing with poor performance properly.

Level

This course is designed for supervisory and managerial level employees who have direct responsibility for managing the performance and conduct of staff. The style is participative and case studies are used to illustrate points made.

  • The legislative framework underpinning capability and disciplinary matters
  • The difference between capability and disciplinary
  • The benefits of having procedures in these areas
  • Identification of best practice and the key actions to take
  • Examination of the reasons why managers may not deal with situations that arise and the implications of not doing so
  • Practice of the skills identified via case study work

Outcomes

Delegates who complete this course will be introduced to the appropriate legislation in a practical, easy-to-understand, way which relates to their situation. They will appreciate the necessity of dealing with capability and disciplinary issues promptly and fairly and an effective proven way of doing so.
