Overview

This workshop will help participants to act with greater credibility when communicating with others. The course explores the effect of communication styles on the ability to persuade and influence others, and it helps participants to develop powerful techniques that work.

Level

This course is designed for anyone who needs to influence others on a regular basis. The style is participative and case studies are used to illustrate points made.

  • An influencing skills model and the different influencing styles in common use
  • Understanding and using the components of assertive communication
  • Exploring what others want
  • Obtaining cooperation through consent
  • Building rapport and minimising conflict
  • Giving and receiving feedback
  • Motivating and delegating  
  • Practising skills such as listening, questioning, assertiveness and persuading
  • Handling resistance and conflict

Outcomes

Delegates who complete this course will gain an insight into how to influence and persuade people effectively. They will get the opportunity to practise the skills they have learnt by applying them to real life situations.
