Overview

This workshop introduces practitioners to the basic elements of tactical planning.  The structure and elements of a public relations plan are outlined, and these elements are linked and coordinated to ensure effectiveness.  Delegates with basic PR skills will be able to apply these skills in a more structured environment.

Level

This workshop is designed for account executives and account managers (and in-house practitioners) who wish to develop their implementation skills into an integrated programme.  The style is participative and case studies are used to illustrate points made.

Content

  • The benefits of planning PR programmes
  • A framework for the public relations process
  • Extending the brief and setting objectives
  • Generating ideas
  • Messages, publics and channels
  • Resource allocation and setting budgets
  • Monitoring progress and evaluating the programme
  • Top tips: horizontal integration, and pervasive messaging

Outcomes

Delegates who complete this course will be able to help develop public relations programmes.  They will be able to contribute to both initial proposals as well as fully-developed campaigns.  They will start to think about the bigger picture rather than immediately diving into unstructured tactical activities.
