Overview

Feature writing is a different skill to writing press releases.  Delegates will appreciate how to come up with successful feature ideas.  They will also appreciate the distinctive style and structure of the feature – with particular emphasis on leads and conclusions.

  • Distinguishing writing features and news releases
  • Types of features and pitching them
  • Planning a feature and developing ideas
  • Structuring a feature: headlines, hooks and conclusions, and the watershed
  • Keeping the reader interested and maintaining flow
  • Editing and good style

Outcomes

Delegates who complete this course will understand how to apply their writing ability to the feature format.  They will have developed confidence in developing features ideas, writing them, and selling in the end product.
